Awareness Program:

SUSTAINABILITY ASSISTANT

FOR THE TEXTILE INDUSTRY

includes a supporting assistant activity, which helps to implement the importance of sustainability ideas and marketing measures in the textile industry. Here, the coordinating function of the assistant plays an important role in the implementation of sustainability projects.

 

Goal:

The goal of the training is to train professionals who are able to promote sustainability in the textile industry and contribute to making the industry more sustainable.

Participants:

The target groups for assistant/sustainability assistant training:

Experienced professionals: individuals already working in the textile industry or a related field who want to enhance their sustainability skills and knowledge to advance their careers.

Textile Industry Salesperson: individuals who already have experience in the textile industry and would like to expand their expertise to include sustainability in order to align their work with more sustainable practices.

Career changers: Individuals who come from a different background but have an interest in the sustainable textile industry and would like to expand their skills and knowledge in this area.

Retrainees: Individuals seeking a new career in sustainability due to circumstances such as unemployment or corporate restructuring

TASK AREAS:

Assists in promoting sustainable practices in the textile industry. Their areas of responsibility include:

Research and Analysis: conducts research and analyzes data related to sustainable textiles, including trends, best practices, and regulatory frameworks.

Communication: the assistant communicates with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders in the textile industry to understand their needs and interests. She may also be responsible for communicating the consultant's recommendations and findings to stakeholders.

Project Management: the assistant will assist in managing projects related to sustainable textiles, including planning, budgeting and implementation.

Sustainability Reporting: the Assistant will assist in the preparation of sustainability reports for clients and other stakeholders.

Event Planning: The assistant assists in planning and organizing events related to sustainable textiles, such as workshops, seminars, and conferences.

Administrative Tasks: The assistant performs administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing documents and files, and preparing presentations.

Overall, the work involves a combination of research, communication, project management and administrative tasks. The goal is to promote sustainable practices in the textile industry and assist clients in achieving their sustainability goals.

TRAINING CURRICULUM includes the following focus areas:

Textile Industry Basics: an introduction to the textile industry, including historical developments and current trends. Impact of chemicals on the environment and humans;

Sustainability in the Textile Industry: An overview of sustainability challenges and opportunities in the textile industry, including the importance of circular economy and environmentally friendly materials. Upcycling & Recycling of textiles.

Research and Analysis Skills: Training in effective research and analysis methods to collect and process data and information related to sustainable textiles.

Communication and Presentation: training in effective communication, needs-based analysis and interviewing skills, including written and oral communication, to inform stakeholders and clients about sustainability in the textile sector.

Project Management: training in the fundamentals of project management, including planning, implementing, and monitoring projects aimed at promoting sustainability in the textile industry.

Sustainability Reporting: training in the preparation of sustainability reports and how to effectively present data and information to inform customers and stakeholders about sustainability performance.

Event Planning: training in planning and organizing events related to sustainability in the textile industry, including workshops, seminars, and conferences.

Administrative Tasks: Training in basic administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing documents and files, and preparing presentations.

 

Requirements

Secondary or tertiary education in home country or country of origin, e.g. training/apprenticeship in the textile sector, possibly work experience

German language skills at least on B2 level

Course times:

Morning course:

  • Mon to Thu 09:00-13:00 group training and

  • Tue and Thu 13:30-15:30 and

  • Fr 09:00-14:00 self-study time (total 25 units per week)

Afternoon class:

  • Mon to Thu 14:00-17:30 group training and

  • Tue and Thu 10:00-12:00 and

  • Fri 09:00-14:00 self-study time (total 25 TU per week)

Note on self-study time: The self-study time on Tue and Thu is to be completed at home. On Friday mornings, a classroom is available for participants to study in a group setting.

Course Format:

Blended learning with face-to-face instruction, online training, and e-self-study time.
